drive the car instead of walk / train / bus / bike to school or work: go shopping to entertain ourselves: buy food that's travelled thousands of kilometres to reach us: products ditto: jet off around the world on holidays - especially 'eco' holidays - because it's alright now, we bought a couple of low-energy light-globes only last week: leave air-conditioners chilling and lights blazing because we're entitled to: etc. etc. and most of all assume that none of this really means I have to change -
brings us that much closer to a disaster so complete that most of our imaginations simply fail to grasp it
the new world that these turbines exemplify is inevitable; denying it or resisting it is not only ultimately futile, it increases the likelihood that a severe austerity will eventually have to be imposed, rather than a milder one negotiated
