The Chapel of the Innocents is found in the caves beneath the Church of the Nativity & the Church of St. Catherine in Bethlehem. It is a tomb commemorating the male infants who were murdered by an angry King Herod after the Holy Family left Bethlehem (Matthew 2:1-18).

The church was built in 1882 and stands on what is believed to be the site of Christ's appearance to St. Catherine of Alexandria. It has many small chapels, one of which is said to be where Saint Jerome translated the Bible into Latin in the year 384 A.D.
