Woke up feeling rather like Kingsley Amis's epic description of a hangover in Lucky Jim, 'spewed up like a broken spider-crab on the tarry shingle of the morning'. To the IWM for the second day of the conference, drank lots of coffee and just about made it through the day. More interesting discussions on a range of issues. Had a second look around the Shaped by War exhibition and then headed home. Evening scanning/editing/blogging/eating/drinking and eventually sleeping.

17th February 2012 - War

To the Imperial War Museum for an LCC organised conference on the legacy of the Vietnam War. Kicked off by Don McCullin, who I find quite fascinating as a person but who also has to be one of the few living adverts for not becoming a war photographer. Various other speakers on a range of subjects from journalism to academia. With the MA lot to the pub for a drink afterwards, then to east London for a boozy dinner and then back to Nunhead on the 78 of doom.

16th February 2012 - Process

To college, an hour in the library researching portraiture. Then a two hour tutorial on environmental portraits. Grabbed three students afterwards and did a quick portrait shoot with each of them for my MA student project. A quick lunch of dubious soup then up to the museum to photograph some restoration work. Back to LCC afterwards to spend a couple of hours in the darkroom teaching a fellow student to process films. Beer in the SU, then more drinks at an opening event. To Farringdon to meet two friends and finally home, pissed and tired.

15th February 2012 - Mount

Up unpleasantly early to spend a couple of hours at one of the Met's stables photographing officers and their mounts. Pretty fascinating, both the relationship between officers and animals and the fact theres still a place for horses in twenty-first century London. Then to college, theory lecture, followed by film processing and then another assignment briefing. Open ended this time but we have to make a three picture story out of what we shoot. A beer then back to dad's for curry.

14th February 2012 - Blooms

I called today a day off and stayed at home scanning and editing films, writing blog posts and playing a couple of guilty hours of Skyrim. Got a surprise phone call late afternoon from my mentor/supervisor from my time at UNAIDS who was in London briefly so I headed to Bloomsbury for dinner, a nice catch up and various interesting photography and health related conversations. Bus home, TV, bed.
