Dai togo

Zelkova serrata (Japanese Gray-Bark Elm), Keyaki or Japanese Zelkova is a species of Zelkova native to Japan. It is often grown as an ornamental tree, and used in bonsai.

The first cultivation outside of Asia was by Philipp Franz von Siebold, who introduced it to the Netherlands in 1830.

The tree is a symbol of a number of Japanese cities and prefectures: Miyagi Prefecture, Fukushima Prefecture, both hard-hit by Friday's quake. It is the strongest in recorded history to hit Japan (according to USGS records that date to 1900).

Vacation cottage at night.

Vacation cottage at night.

Today is the last day of my vacation. This is the place that I spent a few days and let me tell you, the stars are just amazingly beautiful up there in the mountains.

Photo info: several shots stacked with DSS (DeepSkyStacker - deepskystacker.free.fr/english/index.html only to increase the Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR).

A bit of hot highlights from the bare flash on the cottage at the end of the exposure but this is it ...
