mandelbulb by levork

mandelbulb

Mandelbulb, rendered using some new volume rendering code at work. I don't have normals working yet, so it's false coloring only for now. Seven iteration steps.

DC Hero Minifigs - Wave 9 by levork

DC Hero Minifigs - Wave 9

Superman (from Kingdom Come), Jakeem Thunder, Cyclone, and Citizen Steel. Some of these showed up in the previously posted brickified version of the JSA cover.

Cyclone's weird flowing costume pretty much dictated it wouldn't work as a decal (although she still ended up with a decaled tank top), so for the first time I tried my hand at custom cloth elements. This was a complete and utter pain to deal with. That's normal cotton cloth, treated with fabric stiffener, then cut into shape after somewhere around five hours of origami experiments with paper and cloth, finally with a iron-transfer cloth decal on top.

Justice Society of America by levork

Justice Society of America

Inspired by Alex Ross' cover art for JSA #1 (2006). Finally finished up the rest of the JSA (except Obsidian, but he's just a pair of eyes on this cover so I ignored him).

The table's my first bit of SNOT work - turned out okay, but I would have preferred to use a lot less headlight bricks. (The lettering is Photoshopped.)

Thank heavens Wildcat II (man with, um, cat head, basically) didn't show up on the cover - although ripping a Fabuland figure apart might have been amusing..

Lego Star Wars Chess Set by levork

Lego Star Wars Chess Set

Recently I got married and needed a gift for one of my best friends who was acting as a groomsmen. Since he's a Star Wars nut, a huge fan of the Lego Star Wars video game, and a chess player to boot, I assembled a Star Wars themed chess set. This was done at the last minute just prior to the wedding so it's not the ideal assemblage of figures, but I think he's very happy with the result.

These pictures were taken by the recipient, not me. Yes, Greg is the kind of person that owns light-up replica light sabres. Actually, so am I - since he gave me a red one to mark the occasion of his wedding.
