One of our best lunch when we are in the wilderness:
In a large iron skillet you add butter, lot of sliced spanish onions, green peppers, thick slices of salami or bologna and fry on an campfire .... serve over a ciabatta bread with a lot of mustard!!
we call it: Cabonga Special

Once a year..no more..:-))) and never at home.... taste is very good only when VERY hungry and some smoke in your eyes!

I know it is not gastronomie....neither healthy.... but I also know this is ...comfort food..:-))))

There is absolutely nothing better tasting than this food in the fireplace somewhere in the wilderness!!! We use do something similar but we use cow meat instead with smoked bacon!

Very nice shot! My husband and I eat out in the woods all the time when we go out ATVing. Our favorite is chicken, mushrooms and lots of onions sauteed together over the camp fire and served over rice.

J'avais complètement oublié le Bologne. Et pourtant, il a accompagné mon enfance. Chez nous, on l'appelait le steak des pauvres. Je regarde tes photos et je salive comme le chien de Pavlov devant ce "baloney". J'inscris illico ce met gourmand sur ma liste d'épicerie de la semaine. Une fois n'est pas coutume ;-)
