I was looking through my favs and decided to leave here a comment to say that this is just amazing! Simple but cool, strange but hot, this would become a great tattoo.

btw how do you create those textures for shadows?
leonryan.com 27 months ago | reply
Effect/Brush Strokes/Spatter, and then live trace.
Ilie Ciorba 27 months ago | reply
You mean you create all shadows inside Photoshop and then import them into Illustrator? Do you have a video or a tutorial illustrating this process?
leonryan.com 27 months ago | reply
No I do it all in illustrator. Just make a solid object with a thick white stroke, rasterise it, and follow the steps above.
Ilie Ciorba 27 months ago | reply
The point is that I can not Live trace that object after applying the Spatter
leonryan.com 27 months ago | reply
oh, well that's how i do it.

Hi, Thanks for that shadow tip, but i'm wondering how to do tonal transition with this effect like on others of Your works: www.flickr.com/photos/leonryan/5326620561/in/photostream

do you mean the glow around the sun? it's just 3 or 4 spattered circles in different colours stacked on top of each other.
