Great Spotted Woodpecker (Dendrocopos major) are beautiful birds. This female frequents our garden regularly. We also have visits from a local male, and sometimes juveniles with their parents.

They can be quite aggressive birds, but are usually not too bothered by smaller birds such as finches or tits. They will attack starlings, blackbirds and thrushes when they are near a feeding station.
