Rusty (help please)

Rusty (help please) by Leandro ( http://stick-man.spreadshirt.net ).
My dog covered in rust!
If someone knows why his black fur has became RED, please contact me.
From May 2008 'till today the "rust" has increased as you can see in this photo.

- It doesn't depend on food (i have tried many type of brand but without result.)
- It doesn't depend on sun (he has a fence covered where to stay and he had no hard sunbath)
- It doesn't depend on his family. From Grandpa and Grandma to his brothers and sisters, no one has red fur.
- The most of the hair is red on the final part but lately some hair is all red from the root

Any idea?

TAGLIARE.

M-O-O-N that spells ...  Pro User  says:

I have seen much older border collies with their colour intact. I don't think saliva would change the hair colour unless your dog has an obsessive licking problem. My daughter's cat used to suck her tail to go to sleep and the colour did lighten from black to a rusty brown colour. If your dog is licking that much he may had an underlying skin disorder or an obsessive compulsive nature. You can get medications for OCD in pets. My cat was on them some months back for a short time to help with a major problem.

What has the vet suggested? Have you been to the vet or are you waiting and will go when you get the blood tests?

I think it is interesting that the colour has changed only where he can reach to lick. You could be on to something. Good luck. He is such a wonderful dog - it would be nice to see the colour restore. My daughter's cats' tail is back to full colour since she stopped sucking the tail. Miss that though. It was cute.
