OMG Alan Garcia
I blew off The Travers, I don't know, I just wasn't feeling it. So I
went back to the jockeys room tunnel, and all of a sudden he just was
right there, and it took a few shots till we got to this one. Jesus.
He and I really go all the way. This isn't an accident, we worked to
work together this way - for years. this is entirely new jockey
photography territory. As far as i've seen, and I was looking.
Alan is very smart. He won this great race (on the card, there was
another earlier Graded race, and he shot through a hole to get it) in
a great Alan way...
I always feel so lucky to get what I want. This was a piece of cake,
all the way. A hand ride. We both knew we had what it takes to get
there. But was he going to do it? Was I gonna get it?
this is the spectacular answer to that question.

I love this shot in comination with the two after it. He clearly trusts you to reveal himself as he does. And by extension I get a glimpse of who he is - thanks for that. Your love for racing, jockies and horses really creates marvelous work.

Imontome - thanks. It's such an emotional thing for me, these pictures just don't show that, so some appreciation for the effort is better than anything. I felt so so lucky to get all three shots, different as they are.
Rock and Racehorses - thanks so much. I felt like years of my focus have done something nice now - all the shooting... I love shooting these men. all of them. I know you understand.
