When the weather forecast calls for thick fog in the morning I try to get up high and see the sun rise above the clouds. About 2500 feet does it around here. This is on a ledge over the Ausable. There’s a really pretty mix of cherry, aspen, birch, spruce and fir- all the typical summit genera, and some of my favorites. Sometimes coyotes hoot and holler down below all night long and that can get pretty loud. And hermit thrush start singing at 4:30, which can be a bit early, but still nice to hear. All in all it‘s a pretty nice spot.
