Millennium Eye

    Newer Older

Went out last night to catch high tide coinciding with sunset - nicely surprised to see the Millennium Bridge tilt. Also met some random and friendly Flickr-folk having fun on the quayside.

Think this is my favourite of the lot.

I like the long reflections here, very striking and soft!

Sorry I missed meeting you, I'd gone up to the bridge at this point to catch up with my boyfriend who was taking photos there! I got back to see Cam's light-painting photo results, haha

Great reflection. What a bonus to get the bridge tilting and that gorgeous arc of light.

Very nice. I think I walked past you, in search of the said randoms. :)

      Thanks everybody!

I'd been planning to go down to the Quayside at high tide for a while now but not managed to get there due to work etc. The bridge tilting was an added bonus, as was finding people to hang out with!

      How lucky is that.
      Great shot.
What difference does high tide make?

    8. Legolam 45 months ago | reply

The Tyne moves pretty fast when the tide is going either in or out, so that would disturb the reflections more. At high tide, it's like a millpond and the reflections are much better.

This was taken about half an hour after high tide, actually, so you can see some disturbance in the water in the long exposure right in the centre of the shot.

Very good pic, most unusual, but works very well

I like the effect of the moving water on the reflections. Well done.
