Tiled Hall restoration |
View of the restoration of the Victorian Tiled Hall in the Municipal Buildings, Leeds. The Municipal Buildings opend in 1884 with the Tiled Hall used as a reading room. It was later used as a Sculpture Gallery for the Art Gallery then in the 1950s converted for use as the Commercial and Technical Library. For the last 50 years the Victorian tiled walls and vaulted ceiling have been hidden behind bookcases and panelling. A restoration project has transformed the Tiled Hall back to its original glory.
