I miss all the bike to work week excitement since my commute is at noon so I went with Sam part way on his commute and I was so glad I did. I was filled to bursting with joy for being alive and living in this awesome city on such a gorgeous day. Yay biking!!!

The other day my arborist friend let me come dig up some transplants from his wooded lot. I brought home Jack in the Pulpit (pictured here), trillium, wild ginger, blood root, horseradish, Virginia bluebell, thimble berry, May apples and white bleeding heart. I few days later I am happy to see that most have settled in nicely to their new homes. This photo is for my Mom.

Several years ago I heard an interview on NPR about a local couple who had planted there extra lot with all manner of spring blooms for the public to enjoy. They didn't give the address but I tracked it down and it is one of my favorite rites of spring. I call it the Secret Garden but it's not so secret- while I was there 3 other sets of woman meandered through. It's also for sale. Oh, if only I had a spare $540,000 lying around! I hope whoever buys it keeps up this tradition.

Our pizza dough didn't defrost before I got hungry so I made these instead. Demi baguette with red pepper cream cheese, ramp kimchi and colby melted over the top. These definitely hit the spot.
