Nothing remotely like risotto... except maybe the saffron. The rice used for biriyani is usually fine, long-grained and expensive - not like the short fat arborio rice used in mediterranean cooking.

Sharat - Well you live in Hyderabad it could be called the Biriyani capital of the world.
Btw- I use a Cannon S45 4 megapixel , nothing too flashy

Semiloose - I love Sri-Lankan chicken curry I forget the name for it though
