The Famed Singapura
The history is that a Malay King trekked down to survey distant land and expand his kingdom. He turned back when he saw a "Singapura" or lion along the banks. The Malay King didn't stick around, but his name for the area did. He was being cleaned the day I took a riverboat down Clarke Quay.
