A mama's badge. I love these! My dau likes to point out mine and I love saying, "You and your brother did that to me." I think they are beautiful.

For Flickr Group Roulette....Number wang!

First let me say that this is no longer how I am...but I used to be.

I used to base my self worth almost totally on my appearance, measurements and weight. I would weigh and or measure myself almost daily. And my mood would often be determined by the results. I over exercised (to the point of having injuries) and was very vigillant about what I ate. Its REALLY hard for me to admit to that.

I had to use a metal tape measure for this picture because I threw my cloth tape measure and my scales away years ago. I have no idea what my current measurements (I didn't even look for this picture) or what my weight is. I haven't gotten on a scale in years. When I go to the doctor, I refuse to be weighed.

I'm definitely not as thin or fit as I used to be but for the first time in my life I like my body. I'm not saying I never have days of feeling icky about myself, but that is no longer the norm. I can honestly say that alot of my new found self acceptance has come to me through self portraiture. It has helped me see the reality of my body.

Plus...I'm healthy and strong. What's not to love about that?

Well when I was a Deepsea Diver for the Navy I was in superhuman condition. It was my job/duty to be in that kind of condition. I had 3% body fat, I could get up in the morning and ride 10 miles to work on the bike, run 13 miles, swim for a mile or so, then work all day and ride home but take a 25 mile detour, then run another 6 or so miles. So it is really really really difficult for me to see myself as I look today. Some days are harder than others. But I simply have to agree with you that this whole self portraiture thing has gotten me to see myself in a whole different way. And dare I say, sometimes I actually like what I see. :-O

We had the same idea for this challenge ! but although I did take a couple of shots with my own body, I decided to use the barbie doll at the last minute cuz I was just not ready yet.. of course I could've used Photoshop, but it would have sent the wrong message.. I hope someday soon I will be in peace with my body.. just like you are ! :o)

I hear what you are saying about obsessing about your appearance. However, I find that if I don't run or weight train for several days I feel awful. Awful in the sense that I am neglecting my body. I don't judge you on your decision, I do feel that some sort of work-out is good for the body and mind. I also respect the fact that you still look wonderful and the you are happy. Ultimately, that's all that matters.

O have a few pounds I want to shed, but mostly these days for my self and for my health. Iaam with you enitrly about feeling good about yourself and learning most of it through SP. It is really wear I began to see that I was beautiful, in my own way. And groups like 365 and FGR have become like the support that keeps me remembering it. We are all beautiful. All different shapes, sizes and the like and its what makes us that way. (for years its been my face and my nose that Ive hated and It bothers me soooooooo much less now.)

I fit back into them old pants that were my faves? Great huh, i think more women need to so this.
To be honest ive spoken to a number of men who find pregnant women incredibly sexy and women who have some meat on there bones.

To much of womens weight problems come from the media and magazines!!!!

On a general note I think women are much too self-critical about their weight. Most of my male friends don't mind at all if their woman does have some extra pounds or kiloes. And personally I appreciate natural forms (big, average or small) rather than commercialized model-archetypes.
