The Beautiful and Unique Stella

The Beautiful and Unique Stella by Laura ATL.
This is one of my very favorite photographs that I took at the shelter/adoption center. Stella is a very unique brown schnauzer. She came to Atlanta Pet Rescue along with her sister, Shirley, who is also brown. If my memory serves me correctly, their owner had to go to a nursing home, leaving the girls homeless. These beautiful sisters had been so well care for and were between 5-7 yo.

This photograph of Stella was on the Atlanta Pet Rescue website. I happened to be at adoption when her new owner came to adopt her. He said he had been looking at her picture all week. I think she looks like a canine movie star.

Dogs that are 5 yo and older make great pets - my oldest was 5 when I adopted her. Many people think that they can only bond with a puppy but let me assure you that is not the case. If I were any more bonded with my Bella, she would be physically attached to me.

Please visit www.atlantapetrescue.org to see the wonderful pets available for adoption.

I totally agree with you. The older dogs I have adopted are totally grateful and bond easily (my Zuzu for instance). and just think you don't have to go through the puppy stage, it's a win win situation. so glad this beauty found a forever home.

Older dogs are wonderful! Some of mine were older and they were the best. Stella is so beautiful and just look at her amazing eyes. You can tell she is smart and very sweet from just looking into them. I'm so glad she found a wonderful loving home. She deserves it!

Our Shelter adopts out quite a few older dogs. It never ceases to cheer me up to see good people step up to the plate and rescue a dog over 5, especially a senior. We've had people come in to adopt a senior, spend oodles of money on vet bills and only have them a short while, but still say they would do it again. I love people like that.

Love the brown schnauzer, too!

What a beautiful dog, how sad that her owner had to give her up, good news that she has been adopted. Has her sister been adopted as well?

As always, thank each of you for your kind comments. To answer veronrose's question, yes Stella's sister, Shirley, was also adopted but to another home.

Stella's look in this photo is so heart-warming. Thugs my heart.
This photo surely made those people adopt her....she's just so cute here. Her eyes are speaking....as if telling us to bring her home.

Great testimony and such a lovely look from Stella. We are off tomorrow to the shelter to look for an older dog for an older couple (87 years old, both.) Isn't that great!
