My talk was about virtual communities self-organizing into offline meetings, and the conditions necessary for that interaction to take place.

The "weird guy" quote comes from an interview I did with Meetup founder Scott Heiferman, who said that every community has a "weird guy" who is the first to ask people if there's anyone near him/her and if they want to get together offline. Meetup's mission was to act as the "automated weird guy."

I then pointed to an example from Metafilter, in which it turns out I was the very first person to ever suggest a Metafilter meetup, which made me the "weird guy."
