A small red fox stops to take a look at me as I traipse through the snow near Babb, Montana.
One of the locals reported to me that there was a big moose near Duck Lake, just outside of Babb, so I headed up there to see if I could find anything. Sure enough, there was a big moose there in the middle of the woods eating bark off of the trees. Unfortunately it was a horrible shot so I just stood there watching in the middle of the woods (a safe distance from the moose). That's when I turned to my left and saw this little guy, with his head cocked, watching me watch the moose.
As soon as I spun my camera around to take a photograph he took off as soon as the shutter snapped. He scampered off deeper into the woods, where I watched him trying to catch mice. It would seem the colder it gets the more active the wildlife here becomes.
