Lovely composition my friend. But can I ask you something? How much caipirinhas or chopp da brahma you drank before you get your gear on the water? LOL

Oh foxfjord, I saw Cowgirlrightup's photo yesterday. It seems many Candaians are deep in white stuff. Hope this photo helps provide some comfort... it is not too much better here in Ohio :-)

Ale, you're always so funny dude! You rock....
I was not intoxicated when I took this photo, but your other conclusion is correct. I took my gear into the surf (without any water protection). :-o But you have just hit on yet another advantage to shooting with film. The value of my '91 Canon Rebel IIs body is only about $10 (that might be generous). So no worries... huh?
On the other hand, I was fitted with a Sigma EX 17-35mm Aspherical so perhaps I am a knucklehead. Anyway, the water was only up to my knees... yes "Canon Surfing"

Yes, it seems that a lot of the city of Rio de Janeiro has been "reclaimed" from the sea by landfill. I guess that is one way to acquire beachfront property... build it!
I didn't know about the no-see-ums and I'm glad I didn't find out. I hate those little devils but it seems they LOVE me. I spent a week in Guanaja, using only Avon Skin-so-Soft as a repellant on the advice of our Resort Manager. Bad idea! Those suckers would drown it the stuff on my skin, but not before biting the heck out of me. Columbus discovered the Hondurus Bay Islands on his final voyage to the New World. I would believe that he never returned because of the sand fleas! I'm lovin' your latest posts. Take care Vince!

Hi Ale! I remember you wrote me some time ago that my old lenses may not work with the 5D and I thought it would be OK because they were EF compatible.
You may be right, though. Even though the Sigma EX lenses are supposed to be EF compatible, there is some kind of digital code that might need to be updated if I get a newer Canon EOS model. I was reading that Sigma will upgrade this code once, if you experience compatibility issues. I hope it works without need for upgrade, since the main reason for considering Canon digital bodies is my large investment in Canon EF (or compatible) lenses.

I just read a review of 5D on Steves Digicams and this camera is supposed to be fully compatible with the EF mount, except the EF-S lens, which cannot be used! Maybe there's a Canon Firmware update on the 5D to solve the matter with the Sigma EX lenses..I'll try to find out!

Thanks for the faves Adrian, darkenergy, and ~ClevelandAngel! I had to wait several days for this blue sky - it was often cloudy.

I took the "sidewalk" shot first, then the "sand", then finally the "surf." I personally preferred the sidewalk shot, but this one is the runaway favorite (shows what I know).

Ale, good buddy! I was in Rio with my 5D and I was not so brave as this with it. And when the hotel security noticed the size of the camera, they insisted on accompanying me everywhere I went on the beach with the camera because of potential crime. It was not as fun.
