...In the Eye of the Beholder

...In the Eye of the Beholder by laszlo-photo.
The caribbean spotted scorpionfish relies on camouflage to catch its unsuspecting meals. Sitting on the sea bottom, they look like algae-covered stones, earning them the nickname "stonefish." By leaving its mouth open, this fish allows you to easily see through its disguise.

This picture was shot in 2005 in the warm waters of Curacao, Netherland Antilles.

Great picture and set from your dives. I haven't made it to the ABC's, but it's on my list. Have you braved the 6mm waters of Lake Erie yet? Now that the zebra mussels have cleared up the water the wreck diving is supposed to be spectacular. I stick to warm water myself...although San Diego was pretty cold.

Hi Matt. Thanks so much! Yeah, I've made a number of dives in Lake Erie... The wimp that I am, all of them were made in the month of August. I'd love to dive Monterey some time and I might be going to the Thousand Islands in the St. Lawrence seaway this summer, if I finalize my plans... but otherwise, I'll be sticking to warm water as well.
