Inca Gold

Inca Gold by Lara Ferroni.
I can't say that the flavor of this spikey fruit did it for me. Slightly bananish and very very mild. But the translucence was amazing.

Thanks Charlotte and Bea!

I found the plates and mat at Crate & Barrel last week. There are 4 plates in the set, each with different bright colors. I couldn't wait to try them out!

Ahh, I have to go and see what goodies they have! ;-) I keep buying more stuff, and as told to my hubbie, the excuse is my food pictures! ;-)

You have to check these flexible grip mats out if you go. $13 for 4 great backgrounds (that match the plates perfectly too).

Complex looking fruit, simply shot... or at least, that's the impression given. Like the lines running in opposite directions too. Very nice!

Hi, i think your inca gold photo is fantastic. i'm taking a food photography class and i would like to try to create something like it in the studio..can you give me some advice about how you lit the fruit? thanks...

Lara Ferroni  Pro User  says:

Sure... the lighting on this is actually pretty simple... just a backlight, off about 45 degrees to the side. It's been a long time, so I can't quite remember what light I used... I think it was just a desk lamp, although it might have been a continuous studio lamp with an umbrella because the light looks relatively soft.

If I were to shoot it again, I'd probably bounce a little light onto the front with some foam core.
