Rain or Shine

Rain or Shine

Passing through Germany on the trip back home to the Netherlands. Driving on the bundesautobahn 7 between Hamburg and Hannover.
Tried to catch the scenery and surroundings underway. Not always easy photographing from within a car doing 140 km/hour. But the results weren't all that bad.
In postprocessing I had to crank up the exposure on the trees and road 'cause they were underexposed (and still are, but I couldn't take it further). And oh right - in case you're wondering - I also removed all the dead flies and other insects from the windscreen ...

Floating

Floating

Another try at a long exposure shot. Wasn't easy to keep the camera still and steady despite the tripod due to sudden windgusts now and then. Also did a black/white version and am in doubt as to which one I like better. For now I only post the one in colour.

The Prayer of a Fly

The Prayer of a Fly

So you're reading a book or watching tv, talking on the phone or writing an email, relaxing in the sun or eating a sandwich or ... whatever. Suddenly he's there; an annoying fly who keeps bothering you. Constantly that little black moving spot in front of your eyes trying to land somewhere on you or your food. You try to ignore him, but you know you can't. At first you hope a single wave of the hand is enough to get rid of him, but it just always seems to end up in a full fledged fly hunt with the ultimate goal of killing that annoying insect. Familiair right?

But what would it be like for the fly? Driven by instincts I guess, he has no choice but to fly around a bit. And apparently he's bothering those tall two-legged creatures in the process. But he can't help it that they don't like him. So maybe he sometimes buzzes a little prayer. To not always be disliked, shouted at and hunted down. So he can live a life in peace, 'cause it's already a short life as it is for him.

Did I happen to catch one saying his prayer? Who knows ...

Mirror Mirror on the ...

Mirror mirror on the ground ...
am I not the most beautiful toad around?

Lot of young toads around these days. I caught a few of these little guys to get some macro photo's of them for which I used a reflective surface. They are still very small; not more than a few centimeters.
Toads are often considerd to be ugly and in movies or fairytales they are usually portrayed as symbols of misfortune. But that is what we humans made of them. What would the toads themselves think?
In any case I think they're interesting and harmless creatures. To me they're definitely not ugly and make a beautiful subject for a macro shot.

This little guy is at the beginning of his life and crawling into that big world out there!
