In my garbage today

In my garbage today by laniee75.
I went to throw that Micky D's bag in there when I saw something grey and fuzzy move...I finally got up the nerve to look again and this is what I found. He was very tired because he didn't wake up at all while I was shaking the can and moving the bag to see him better. But he did get out while I was inside because I left the lid open for him. Now he's probably going to ambush me in the morning.

I was freaking out a little bit. I yelled for my husband...he threatened to shoot it with a pellet gun. So I ended up calling Animal Control. They made me call the Sherriff's Department. I called them and they had me call an Animal Removal Service....ummmmm where I HAVE TO PAY TO HAVE THE ANIMAL REMOVED AND THEN THEY KILL IT???? NO thank you. So that's when we came up with the plan of leaving a full garbage bag for him to climb out on. I will definitely be looking under my car and in the back seat next time I get in the car though...not only did he have access to McDonalds...there was also a box of Whoppers (malted milk balls). He's probably wired.

Holy cow, laniee! He must have had quite a night in there to have zonked out in place. That's like falling asleep on the buffet line! I'm scared to death of them since I had one sniff at my toes in a campground once. I'd be checking under the car, too. I might even honk the horn before I start it...

I think that he may have hosted a party....the rest were "sober" enough to get out before morning. He definitely could have lived in there a while with the food that was available...we had a freezer thaw problem so there was lots of "fresh-ish" (to a raccoon) food. Except Tuesday is garbage day...he didn't have long.

We have racoons at our bird feeder every day. I think they are really great, but I guess they can be pretty aggressive...and of course, there's the whole rabies thing. Stay safe!

If this guy had been any bigger I probably would have been more concerned. But he was just so cute. I haven't seen him since so I think he's probably gone on to terrorize others in the neighborhood.
