151-1-58 ... Refueling one of the planes used for the Young Eagles flights.

1947 Piper PA-12, S/N 12-1964, owned by Greg Anderson. ... Greg was instrumental in starting the Young Eagles program in 1992. ... Today, Greg is the President and CEO of Wings Over The Rockies Air & Space Museum, Denver Colorado.

During the B-17G tour stop in Denver Colorado June 13-18, 2007, the Young Eagles program provided free plane rides for any child over six (with the parents' permission). In some cases the children actually got to fly the plane ... some of my grandchildren got to take the controls.

The EAA Young Eagles program was launched in 1992 to give interested young people, ages 8 - 17, an opportunity to go flying in a general aviation airplane. These flights are offered free of charge and are made possible through the generosity of EAA member volunteers. … Since 1992, more than 1.3 million Young Eagles have enjoyed a flight through the program. Young Eagles have been registered in more than 90 different countries and have been flown by more than 41,000 volunteer pilots.

The annual B-17 stopover here in Denver is sponsored by EAA and Wings Over The Rockies Air And Space Museum ( www.wingsmuseum.org/ ). As a volunteer at the museum I get to help a little bit with the activities.
