Don't max the ram until they fix the freezing
issues. I suspect it's hardware-related and
will require a firmware update, so you may
still get bit even if you boot vista.

Ooops. Too late, I put 4GB in already. I
haven't had it freeze yet, but I haven't been
using it a ton either. I've read about some
people successfully putting 6GB in these.
I've been running OS X, but also Vista
through bootcamp and VMWare Fusion. I'd like
to put in an Intel SSD, and replace the
superdrive with a 2nd SSD or HD.
So you got a new unibody one too, eh?

Hey. If you ever need to find OSX software
for pretty much everything, whether open
source, free or commercial, this is an
awesome site: osx.iusethis.com/

Yeah, I got one the first day they were in
the store. I swapped the hard drive from my
previous MBP, and never wanted to have to do
that again... ever.
I was having freezing issues, as were a lot
of other people (there's a huge support forum
topic about it on apple's website). They
pushed an EFI update a week or two back that
is supposed to have fixed the problem, but I
haven't put the 4GB back in yet.
If you wiped it for vista, I'm not sure how
you'd get the updates. It might be good to
leave a small OS X partition on there for
such things.

Replacing the hard drive in a MBP is kind of
a pain. I ended up slightly damaging my case
when I did it. Forgot to remove a couple of
screws. LOL

I have OSX on there still, I'm just dual
booting. I actually use OSX more when I'm
just browsing, because Apple's trackpad
drivers suck in Vista. I'm glad the HD is
way easier to replace in the unibody model.
