After seeing the extra pounds my body has gained over the last couple of years (proof here), I decided to act! But.. how should I go about it? How bad is the damage? How much weight should I lose in order to feel healthier and better about my body? I joined several fitness programs in the past and after a while I got bored and decided to quit. So... what should I do? Should I take up running? Swimming? Walking? And for how long?
So, Saturday I went for a physical exam: mini EKG, physical test, balance boarding, endurance test... and a body fat test.
Turns out my thighs are made of 36% fat. THIRTY SIX PERCENT FAT.
Yeah. That made me feel really good about myself...
But help is on the way... Jan will coach me for the next three months
and we have set some goals: better endurance skills, weight loss
(lower BMI), losing fat on the thighs, hips and tummy and gaining more
muscles. Let's see how that works out and how fast I'll start whining
I'm bored. Stay tuned!
This is my submission for Salon8 this week. The theme was orange, but seeing as I wanted to share another story with you I tried to sneak it into this picture.
Salon 8 is a group project: 8 photographers take on 26 themes. 26 ideas seen through 8 different sets of eyes. Every two weeks we will posts these images of the world as we perceive it, as we dream and taste it.
