Oak AlleyA bit of unintentional balcony railing! Unintentional may be, But this has added a beautiful dimension ![]() This is a view from the second floor balcony of Oak Alley Plantation located in Vacherie, Louisiana looking toward the Mississippi River. I took this picture here on Friday, August 26, 2005 as a passenger of the American Queen Steamboat. This was our last scenic stop until New Orleans, Louisiana. We arrived at New Orleans on Saturday, August 27, 2005. We evacuated the New Orleans area on Sunday, August 28, 2005. Hurricane Katrina struck the area on Monday, August 29, 2005. I wondered how these majestic trees stood up to the storm. Other photos on Flickr have shown that they survived nicely through Katrina. This photo even looks better when viewed in large size.
