Oak Alley

A bit of unintentional balcony railing!

Unintentional may be, But this has added a beautiful dimension

This is a view from the second floor balcony of Oak Alley Plantation located in Vacherie, Louisiana looking toward the Mississippi River. I took this picture here on Friday, August 26, 2005 as a passenger of the American Queen Steamboat. This was our last scenic stop until New Orleans, Louisiana. We arrived at New Orleans on Saturday, August 27, 2005. We evacuated the New Orleans area on Sunday, August 28, 2005. Hurricane Katrina struck the area on Monday, August 29, 2005. I wondered how these majestic trees stood up to the storm. Other photos on Flickr have shown that they survived nicely through Katrina. This photo even looks better when viewed in large size.

Well, you could do lots of things :)
Fisrt off, you could crop it to get rid of the balcony railing, then rotate it a few degrees to the right, to make the alley go straight up in the middle of it...then crop some more (to compensate for the rotation)...and then apply a few basic function, to make it more vivid and lightened up!

I took the liberty to make some changes on the picture, just to show you how you can touch up your pictures to look even more beautiful.

I'll send a before and after image to ya!

The Live Oak trees survived just fine. A tree-surgeon I know said that the few branches that were blown out were weak, and the trees were fine, healthier after a pruning by nature. The tree evolved to withstand strong winds and short immersions in salt water. Less than one in 50 fell down. Houses that were surrounded by the oaks suffered far less roof damage.
