We Were Hoping to See One Moose...
We were hoping to be lucky enough to see one moose... we ended up seeing a ton of them! The wildlife watching in YNP and GTNP is really mind blowing.
This pair of bulls near the Gros Ventre river was our first sighting. They were accompanied by a female (she's lying down in the brush, just outside the right side of the frame). We watched them for a long time from across the river. They grazed, swatted at flies and clicked antlers. They were so fun to watch.
The Gros Ventre area of GTNP is a fantastic place to look for wildlife.

Most of the moose you'll see during the day will be lying down in the thicket. You'll just see their heads and antlers above the brush.

Great shot! I've always wanted to see moose! We once hiked into a place in central Maine where moose were often seen but never saw a single moose:(. This is a fave!

such magnificent creatures. I do like the one lying in the brush, half hidden.
