Downstream from Douglas by [Christine]

Downstream from Douglas

I don't usually shoot downstream, but I thought the golden light on the water was pretty in this scene.

Jones Run Trail - Shenandoah National Park by [Christine]

Jones Run Trail - Shenandoah National Park

I love hiking on fall days when the sky is blue and the trees make a golden umbrella over the trail. A couple weeks ago, we had exactly that kind of day on the Doyles River - Jones Run loop. The waterfalls were all low-flow disappointments, but the forest was absolutely gorgeous.

See more photos and read about the hike on our blog.

Happy Halloween! by [Christine]

Happy Halloween!

Today is my dad's birthday, so we're off to celebrate with the family. But I wanted to pop in and share a few more costumed pugs for Halloween.

Pugs in Wigs by [Christine]

Pugs in Wigs

Yes...Yoda looks ashamed and Wookie looks shell-shocked. But you must admit that Mojo looks kind of badass.

I thought waiting for cars to make light trails in the park was a tough shot, but it was nothing in comparison to getting three pugs into wigs and sitting still for the camera.

Around the Bend - Shenandoah National Park by [Christine]

Around the Bend - Shenandoah National Park

Fall is always really busy in Shenandoah National Park. Often on nice weekend days, people have to wait upwards of an hour or more just to get past the fee station. Luckily, it was pouring down rain for most of Saturday, so I didn't have to wait in line at all.

The downside was that it took *forever* to get cars to pass by with their lights on for this shot. I think I stood in the same spot for almost half an hour. People probably wondered what the heck I was doing. I ended up settling for a two-car passing.

This shot didn't come out exactly like I wanted. I wish the wind would have stayed calm. I also wish that more cars would have passed by in quick succession. That would have made much nicer, more complete light trails. As soon as I packed up my gear and walked back to the car, five cars went by, practically bumper to bumper.
