Crocosmia unfurling its lovely flowers

Crocosmia unfurling its lovely flowers by kystorms.
I love this flower, it grows in so many surprise places each year. And the color is just wonderful come the Fourth of July.

Very nice photo that captures the graceful shape of an emerging flower spike.

They ARE beautiful but they've steamrollered over every other plant in my sunny garden area. There seem to be at least three ways they propagate themselves-- by seed if you let the flower heads ripen, by runners underground, and by little bulblets. If you grow them, you need to give them a lot of space or they'll take it anyway!
