If any old building would remind me of The Fall of the House of Usher...it is this one - goodness, how evocative - I have little knowledge of styles in architecture but I would say this is not medieval ...

Yet another cracking shot :-) and a real shame nobody calls this place home :-( But as long as even a ruin still stands it still has life and brings joy to many..myself included :-)

This photo is of my husband's father's family home untill just after the WW2. It belonged to the Crawford family and Henry Nigel Crawford was the last laird of Rothienorman suceeding his brother Jock who was killed in action. The estate consisted of 2700 acres, including the village of Rothienorman. The name name crawford was shortened from Crawford-Leslie and prior to that just Leslie. The Leslie family purchased Rothienormon in 1783. The Crawfords had to sell Rothie in 1951 because of death duties incured during the war. The estate was broken up sadly the house was striped by land agents for quick money. Ads surviving Crawfords we now live in New Zealand

As a Boy I lived on the other side of Cranna Wood in a small cottage. I used to walk here with my sister. I finally found the history of the place. Vivid memories don't die. I'll return here soon to photograph it. Thanks for sharing!!!
