For Technical Questions : Made in our livingroom, used flash@ISO 1000 for a little bit overall noise. Converted in into b/w, multiplied with itself and deleted parts of the face, hand and the cam.

Time For Processing And Rethinking : 4 hours minimum. (Uuuh)

The Idea :This is part of a project that a friend of mine and me where planning. But nevertheless I always wanted to do this one with a real gun - but I think this one is better (from a conceptional standpoint). I did 50 to 70 shots to get the best results, played with other ideas which I won't tell you right now ;) .

Personal Message : Don't worry - I am fine right now. The image is open for interpretation but not an expression of my current emotional life. So I am not on a suicidal track right now ;).

Question To The Readers : What does this image tell you ? How would you interpret it ?

Lol, nice portrait! Quite funny and very well composed! To me it means mostly a funny wordplay (or "pictureplay"), although the topic itself is not funny at all... anyway, I am not that huffy when it comes to humor... ;-)

Picture tells me: Sometimes it takes some pain to make a good foto or to be a fotographer at all. I'm not at all creative at the moment, haven't got the right camera/lens... So I sit back and wait.

It's a funny pic and a good one. But 4 hours. I wouldn't like that.

I put my hand to my head and I realized the more natural position for me is to orient the camera vertically - I would probably hold a pistol the same way too, but that's me.

So ein Selbstbildnis mit Kamera habe ich noch nie gesehen. Ausdrucksstark. Funzt in SW sehr gut. Durch die Verfremdung des Gesichtsausdrucks (Augen zukneifen) wird das Bild bereichert. Was sagt das Bild? -> Der Fotograf hat Humor.

I have been a Hunter, so I know about real fire arms
The image reminds of course immediately of that world famous reporter portrait of a prisoner that was going to be shot through the head the next second by an officer in the Vietnam war... The tension is nicely visible, just like in the original, the fear, the panic, the subdued attitude...the anticipation..
I agree that this one is even more original and deep, with a camera in stead of a gun. (See further
To me, the Power of this picture (it has got allready a lot of comments, reightly so) is of course in the first place in the confrontation of the onlooker with the possibility of DEATH. Especially since most onlookers on Flickr are photographers themselves and moreover, in modern city environment, we are not acquinted with the natural phenom of D. any more.. (Unlike farmers used to be, or hunters, or soldiers...
(I have worked with dying people in a palliative care unit.
I did it as a volunteer, I wanted to know what Death is like..

Finally, in a deeper layer, i think this image is striking to me, because it visualises the fear of self-criticism.
Self Knowledge is very important to live a good live to the Full - but it is not easy to get, and often a bit painful it is, to be confronted with truths about the Self..

And of course, as a Belgian, where out of the ten million inhabitants of the small country, where life is loaded with rules big and small, eight to ten commit suicide each 24 hours, this image is a powerfull reflection on that strange, typical Human act…!

Your (self) portrait is a good carrier of all these messages...

i currently have a migraine, so this imagine speaks volumes to me. I took my camera out this morning to shoot some landscapes, but my eyes are not working properly and my left eye is weeping a lot. I felt like doing exactly what you are doing in this picture. To me it signifies frustration, but one could almost find a bit of humour in this picture.
