This pie pan received the title of the World's Largest Cherry Pie Tin from the Guinness Book of World Records in 1987 after beating out the neighboring town of Charlevoix. The town of Charlevoix held the title from 1976 to 1987. The Cherry Pie in Traverse City was created by Chef Pierre Bakeries (now Sara Lee) on July 28, 1987 in Traverse City, Michigan USA weighing 28,350 pounds and having a diameter of 17 feet, six inches.
