Little Gypsy Girl

It was around 6:30-7:00 PM, near the railway station in Roorkee (India). I spotted this little gypsy girl in a crowded street. She was standing outside her tent. When I took her picture, she smiled at me. I guess she had sensed the attention she got. We did not talk.

Was this a Banjara girl? The first time I have seen a nose ring on a girl so small -- which could possibly mean that she has been 'promised' as bride while still a baby -- or has even been symbollically 'married'? could you post this at www.flickr.com/groups/50_million_missing/ a site dedicated to the 50 million women and girls missing in India.
