Flotsam and Jetsam![]() Stuck in the sand as a trophy example of our hard work, toothbrushes were a small part of the garbage we picked up on the beach at Genesta Bay in Queensland, Australia on June 3, 2003. Ian Stone, our skipper at The Whitsunday Wilderness Lodge, collects the toothbrushes found by guests on their cleanup excursions. I snapped this photo. We had spent the time beachcombing for trash pondering the mystery of why so many toothbrushes are found and why so many are worn down at one end…?
