trio

I painted this soon after my first son was born. I wanted to paint something that showed becoming a family of three without it being too corny. I also had a lot of fun playing with texture here - almost the whole thing is done with a palette knife.

This is a portrait of my oldest son. He is a thoughtful little fellow and I wanted to capture that in a painting.

buttons

I don't know why, but I am very charmed with a handful of buttons. They are so simple and beautiful and have been around forever.

This is a portrait of my younger son. I took a photograph of him and he looked so relaxed yet so intense at the same time - I knew I had to make it into a painting.
