A Reflection of "The Great One"

A Reflection of "The Great One"

After Backpacking in Denali National Park for several days, we hopped on the camper bus that dropped us off at Wonder Lake Campground, which is the furthermost campsite in the park.
If you have never been to Wonder Lake Campground, I would highly recommend it! The views are incredible! Many visitors to the park are not fortunate enough to see Denali(Mt Mckinley) clearly. But, we were blessed with three consecutive days of great visibility. The sheer size of Mt Mckinley is incredible! It dwarfs all other nearby mountains in the Alaska Range, which would pass for very large mountains in most parts of the North America.

Shortly after arriving and setting up camp, I set off to take some pictures. After traipsing through fields of blueberries and salmonberries I cam across this lovely scene.

Brothers in Denali

Brothers in Denali

This is me and my bro after backpacking for several nights in the rugged terrain of Denali National Park. It is an incredible place. Both desolate and bountiful. Beautiful and baron. It can take you breath away, or even your life if you are careless.

We had a great time in Denali. We spent a few days backpacking, and then a few days camping at the established campgrounds at Wonder Lake, which is at the foot of Denali(Mount McKinley). This photograph is after the strenuous backpacking with heavy loads. We managed roughly 70-80lb packs, and yet managed to not bring enough food, which made things a little less enjoyable towards the end, but stunning none the less.

If you can't see it in the picture, I actually have an additional camera bag strapped to my stomach and attached to my backpack straps with bungie cords for additional gear.

P.S. I am the one on the right.

Autumn Lake, near the Central Alaska Range

Autumn Lake, near the Central Alaska Range

Before backpacking in Denali, we decided to spend a night along the old Denali highway. The Denali highway was the original means of entrance to Denali National Park, but after the Parks highway was established the Denali Highway has fallen into disrepair and is less heavily used(except for by hunters). The views along the Denali Highway are exceptional. this shot is from near our campsite along the road during late autumn. You can see the frozen peaks of the central alaska range rising in the background and jutting up into the passing storm-clouds.

The wild alaskan blueberries were plentiful in this area, and my pant-legs and fingers bore remembrance of their existence.
