Voltron Star Shooter

Voltron Star Shooter by John Kratz.
Made in 1985, this toy starts out as a mild-mannered SLR (inset), but then converts into Voltron: Defender of the Universe!

The top part of his body is actually a working 110 camera, while the big "SLR" lens is a fake.

Made in Macau and sold by Impulse Ltd. of Missouri.

Voltron sez: View me LARGE!

@Randy:
Take a look at the thread here, unless you're just asking if this is a real toy that changes from a camera to a Voltron figure, in which case the answer is a simple "yes".

:o)

Thanks for the compliment!
I prefer to shoot digital, although I do plan to use a few of my old film cameras. Most of them I will probably never use, because I just can't see myself doing things like re-spooling 120 film onto 620 spools. You never know though -- I could become inspired at some point.

Hi, I'm an admin for a group called Novelty Cameras, and we'd love to have this added to the group!

I wanted to add the button so that you could add it to the pool if you wish without joining the group but I have not been able to figure out how to do it. I am not a very experienced administrator. I'll post the link if I can figure it out.

Really Cool camera, John! Every time one of these shows up on Ebay they always bring in a hefty price, or at least more than I'm willing to pay. I'm beginning to think that I will become more like you in that I'm finding it harder and harder to use film for some of my cameras. I can see the day coming when I succumb to digital photography and my film cameras will just collect dust in the display case.

John Kratz  Pro User  says:

Thanks Phil
I really enjoy just owning and looking at my cameras, so I have no problem just keeping them for display. As far as collecting dust, I'm looking for a display case with glass doors! :o)

I paid $27 for this camera (eBay), but with all the views this photo has gotten, I wonder if I've driven up the price...

We have one of these in our collection of novelty cameras. It is my favorite among the several "transformer" type toy cameras we have. This past weekend we saw one for sale at a toy show for over $100 so you got a good deal.
