Cecilia Podolsky, et al., desaparecido plaques![]() ![]() These three plaques are in the sidewalk on Chile street in Buenos Aires. They list the names of three people who were "disappeared" by the military government of Argentina in the late 1970s, just after it came to power; their names are Susana Elena Pedrini, Jose Daniel Bronzel, and Cecilia Podolsky. Each plaque reads:
Aqui vivio (name of person) Militante popular Detenida desaparecida 27-7-76 Por el terrorismo de estado Barrios por Memoria y Justicia Which means: Here lived (name of person) Militant of the people Detained disappeared 1976-07-27 By state terrorism Neighborhoods for Memory and Justice You can read more about this family of three at www.desaparecidos.org/arg/victimas/b/bronzel/ Two of their bodies were found and buried in a cemetery in 2000. In a few years I expect to see plaques like this all over the United States as government repression increases.
