at arm's length

at arm's length by KpucmuHa {Kristina}.
Haven't been around much, and this is why. You are looking at the cause. When I ask people when the Terrible Twos are over, they tell me the Threes are worse. We are still about 2 months away from the Threes, and she is building up a crescendo of sorts. For the past two weeks, she just can't bear to be separated from me. She has to be physically attached to me, even in sleep. I try putting her to bed. She falls asleep, but as soon as she senses me leave the bed, she is up, begging to go with me. For the past two weeks we went to bed at the same time, and got up at the same time, leaving her sleep deprived and me grumpy from not having any time to Flickr in the evening. Not a great combination.

She does not nap on the weekends any more either, which makes her even more tired, ever more clingy, and needing to be closer to me.

So here you have it... puffy, tear streaked eyes, the ever present binky (I think that is half our problem), and I near by.

I PRAY the Threes are easier.

PS 11 pm. Here come the little feet...

It will get easier. Morgan's hellish phase started at three and got worse until the past month (she's 3 and 3 months). Now she is a pure delight and talks non-stop. I almost don't want her to go to sleep sometimes because she's so much fun. Trust me, I've been where you are (minus binky). We took M off the binky when she turned two, it was a hellish weekend, but we got through it.

Cassidy's all over the place, so I can't say that we've had a terrible 2 or 3, but rollercoasters all the way. lol She's 5 & still has a paf though... :p Of course I 'know better', but it's the only way she sleeps, so we'll deal with the repercussions on the other side, so she'll sleep (she has some medical stuff - Sleep Apnea 7 Epilepsy that sleep deprivation agrivates also)...

Beautiful pic even with the puffy eye! *hugs!

Chera, you little one sure has her share of challenges! I sometimes wonder whether F has any medical issues - her highs and lows are extreme! She is extremely bright, hyper aware, so I have been thinking that that combined with a stubborn, bossy personality explains her tantrums. But still, it is so difficult, when she screams on the floor "I want mommy to dress me", like she did this morning. And she only wanted me there so she could have a paci and access to my equipment (IYKWIM). :)

She is gorgeous.... both of your girls are.
Hopefully this is just a stage and it passes soon.
Tantrums are so difficult to cope with when they're on a daily basis.
Good luck.

Ohhh do I know.....I just snuck out of Lily's room myself. Mommy sleep with me....no, I read books, no, go get my necklace...NOW no no no sleep mama, SCREAM Does that sound familiar? LOL I feel guilty though because I don't think it would be this way if she wasn't squished between 3 others....I know she feels like she's in the way a lot. Cassidy was the most demanding, unhappy (??) at times, irritable child I'd ever met....and now that she's 4, almost 5, she only has remnants of that. I know it seems like it will be like this forever, but it won't, I promise!

Oh man, Natalie! I don't know how you handle 4! I hope the baby is not as demanding as the toddler.

i'll have to concur that the third birthday seems to have made our little one a little more difficult to deal with. she's still incredibly sweet but the trantrums are definitely coming more often and defiance is at an all time high. hopefully, yours just went through it a little earlier.

Don't! Don't say that DC2! Ugh. I think the battle between left and right hemispheres is full on. Yesterday, she was such a hoot - cracking jokes, making up songs - although the firecracker was still in her. Even dressing her was a cinch. Will see how it is today. We are taking it one day at a time.
