Certainly John Cage is among the influences the Dead Air Fresheners list. However, Cage was never considered a performance artist. He was a very serious composer (albeit not afraid of using humor) who used "chance determination" to produce his musicaly scripted results.

The Dead Air Fresheners clearly have a performance art influence/element as well, however, that is undoubtedly drawn from sources other than Cage!
