Almost-blooming corpse flower "Titania"

Corpse flower ready to bloom.
Almost-blooming corpse flower "Titania" by Kostas Pagiamtzis.
The corpse flower (amorphophallus titanum) blooms after 10-15 years of the corm's (like a bulb) growth and dormancy cycles. The flower stinks like a corpse when it blooms to attract carrion insects, which help pollinate it. When it blooms, the flower is huge. It's not quite the largest flower, but it is the largest unbranched inflorescence in the world, whatever that means. In this photo, "Titiania" is a few days away from blooming.
