Petrin Hill, Praha | Prague | Prag
part of gardens in Czechia
Petřín (German Laurenziberg) a hill in the center of Prague rising some 130 m above the Vltava River. It's almost entirely covered with a network of eight gardens, parks and recreational areas. It features historic buildings like the Gothic Hunger Wall or the Mirror Maze and gardens like a Rose Garden, the Schönborn Palace and Gardens (now the U.S. embassy and unaccessible, but see images here.) or the Vrtba Garden (which I will feature separately).
Having been a vineyard in historic times, it's flanks are now covered by large fruit yards, clothing them in white clouds in spring. In summer it was very very peaceful and quiet. And it was a treat to pick and savour some plums lying in the grass - not all are picked by the gardeners.
We did not wander through all the gardens, so please check out their beauty here.
