Everyone doing their job
Police moved in force, armed and well-orchestrated, with clear strategy. The protesters chanted, "No arrests," "We are here for you," "You have a choice," and "Shame!" Some shouted, "This is what a police state looks like." However no action other than words was used by the protesters, and I saw no tear gas, mace, tazers, or other harmful attacks used in the arrests. Many protesters felt that the presence of guns and billy clubs was violent, that the use of horses and "pushers" from among the riot police was violent. My perception was that everyone was doing their job: the protesters were protesting (peacefully), and the police were making arrests systematically.
