This is how I took the Donovan 3 weeks portrait...
I place the 40D at the middle shelf, and then use a remote release to focus and take the shot...then I will check the position of me and Don via the mirror reflection of the play back mode.

Of course, I did have to take over 100 frames with trial and error to came up with a few usable one...
I finally found "the light", but I have to remind myself to stop pouting my lips...or half open my mouth..but "smiling with the eyes" is something totally should be avoid, unless you look like one of the hamster from "America next top model"
