Building a PLN?
Some people, when starting out with Twitter, choose to make their updates private. This is their right, of course, but in my view, it is counter to the purpose and spirit of Twitter as a tool to connect people. While I admit there are legitimate reasons to make one's updates private. I strongly suggest anyone building their Twitter PLN reconsider this approach. It makes it harder for people to follow you, and, gives the impression that you are only interested in TAKING from the collective, not openly GIVING!
