So there I was, wandering around in the woods, and on looking up I saw this. What a gift for someone doing a 112 in 2012 project, of which No.40 happens to be 'Something beginning with T'!

I have no idea how or why it was there, but I was happy to both find and photograph it. Up until I saw this, my entry for this category was going to be a Tulip - so you had a narrow escape from yet another tulip shot! :p

Spiky

Spiky

I have no idea what these sticky, spiky plants are, but there are a lot of them where I like to wander on The Ridgeway.

EDITED TO ADD: A Facebook friend of mine has identified this as a seed head of the Burdock plant. Hooray - now I know what it is :D

My entry for No.82 - Sharp or Spiky, in 112 in 2012.

A snowy version taken this month, in the comment below.

Remembering Summer

Remembering Summer

I'm uploading this shot from my archives for no other reason than that I miss sunshine and warmth, and wanted to see a reminder of summer.

Better on black I think (I seem to always be saying that, don't I?) - click on the image or press 'L' on your keyboard.

My Favourite Tree - in Winter

My Favourite Tree - in Winter

There are so many shots of this tree on my photo stream, but I think this is the first with snow.

I have been having a discussion with Mr Woolyboy about landscapes. You see he takes fantabulous ones ... and I don't. I always gravitate back to shots of detail, because that's what fascinates me. He suggested that when I look at a landscape, I try to find a 'section' of it to photograph rather than the widest angle I can get, as that might appeal more to my own particular style of photography. Turns out he was right - I like this little snippet of landscape much better than any of the wide angle shots I took that day. It has the simplicity I like in a shot. Thanks for the advice, Steve! :)

As with all snowy shots, it looks better on black - either click on the image or press the 'L' key on your keyboard.

I know it breaks rules about composition, with the horizon halfway across the picture, but I think I like it enough to use it as my entry for No.75 - Five Minutes from Home, in 112 in 2012.
