Tulip Blush

Tulip Blush

It's been way too long since I uploaded a tulip shot. These were so beautiful - subtle and understated.

My entry for No.68 - Pale, in 112 in 2012.

It glows better on black - click on the image, or press the 'L' key on your keyboard.

Sorry I haven't got round to all your streams for a few days - my son has been ill again, so I've been on nursing duties. He's gone back to school today, so I hope to catch up with you all over the next couple of days.

Hydrangea in Winter

Hydrangea in Winter

Hydrangeas are one of those flowering plants which are beautiful all year round - whether the big mop of flowers are in colourful bloom, or like this - brown and crisp.

My entry for No.58 - Delicate, in 112 in 2012.

Looks nice on black - click on the image itself, or press the 'L' key on your keyboard.

Collage of Mr Dove

Collage of Mr Dove

I have a couple of collared doves who visit the feeder every day. They are so lovely to watch. Unlike the pigeons, they are not greedy. They always arrive and leave together - each one waits whilst the other eats and drinks.

Mr Dove is bigger than his partner, and his feathers are darker. He also has a wider 'collar' - Mrs Dove's collar is very slim.

Snowdrops

Snowdrops

Thus far this year, I hadn't taken any shots of snowdrops. I saw them in bud up on The Ridgeway when I was there in the snow, so hoped they'd now be in full bloom. I needed to take a shot for the 112 in 2012 challenge - for No.29 - Any shot taken on Leap Day, and decided snowdrops would be just the thing. I think I was alone up there, so nobody got to see me lying on the floor, getting all muddy, and covered in dead leaves.

You might notice another different watermark on this image. I like this one, so will be sticking with it.

Bubbles

Bubbles

Another experiment involving the glass vase with flat sides. My son was off school for a couple of days (yet another horrible virus) but when he'd started perking up, I got him to help out with this experiment. I put some washing up liquid in a little water at the bottom of the vase, then got him to blow through a straw to produce bubbles. I found putting different colours behind the vase (I used fabric since I am a fabric-a-holic, and have way too much of the stuff) produced very different results. (A different colour in the comments, below).

My entry for No.4 - Bubbles, in 112 in 2012.
