White American cheese; braid border is one string of those pull-apart fruit snacks

Leftover blue rice from heron bento

Head is turkey slice; "mask" is one generous dollop mayo + one drop green food coloring

cucumbers, turkey strip for the ears, canned cheese squirts for earrings

Mouth and nostrils are out of a slice of beef lunchmeat

Robe is the same as the turban, naughty fruit strings always going out of place :(

HG recipe for peanut butter green pepper, I burned it a bit but it's still good, although I'm not "fixing" any "tastes" with it, lol

Can't always make a perfect batch of hard-boiled eggs, hoooo! (Salad seasoning on eggs)

More cucumbers, wheat crackers, green goddess dressing

She kind of looks like Joan Crawford, to me.

Looks a lot better in the thumbnail than big, lol ;)

My mom got me a new mandolin slicer and I was sitting there with a cucumber, thinking "What can I do with these?" Hmmm.

Not long, really. I had most of it figured out last night, and I cut shapes out of paper plate to be my stencils for the head, neck and turban. This morning it was just sort of throwing it where it was supposed to be and adding the decoration. The hardest part was the mask--- I bent tiny strips of paper plate into little spatulas to try and get it evened out, sculpt a nose, etc. Mayonnaise isn't a very cooperative medium! ;)

Everytime I see one of your bentos, I just picture you grocery shopping, walking up and down the aisles, looking for something the perfect shade of chartreuse to be the newly unfolding spring leaves of a birch tree. Bah! I'm lucky to find white cranberry juice so my kids don't stain the carpet when they spill! :P

andugger: it tasted -mayonnaisey- ;) Since I had to use more than I initially intended to get the effect I wanted, I had to scrape a bunch off. I just rolled the whole thing up like a wrap and ate it!

randomness and invisible iris; yeah, heh, that's what I kept saying to myself as I was assembling her.....wow, she looks like Joan Crawford. Maybe I should have made some cowering children in the other tray.

craftscout: It's nowhere near that glamorous. I just look at what I have and try to work with it, although the boyfriend does complain that I take too long in grocery stores. :)

LolaGeek: kinda like that line from Clueless, isn't it...she's such a Monet....it does look way better in the thumbnail!

I know a lot of people hate HG because they think he reinforces silly stereotypes about homosexuality, but I think it stopped being about that a long time ago, and he toned it way down because his obnoxious silliness stands on its own. He's more like a walking cartoon now (or was before he got married to Anna Suzuki and pretty much disappeared, lol). I think that's why so many adults let their kids run over to see him...you'd never see that in the US!
